About Me
B'eit Adonai Yisrael - House of the Lord of Israel

A little about me and my calling.

My name is Steve Chumbley (pronounced: Chum-Lee). At the time of this writing, I am 48 years old. My wife is Sherry. We have two daughters and one son. I was born and raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado. My family and I moved to south-west Missouri in September 2003.

I am not a preacher, a scholar, a theologian nor a highly educated man. I am a simple man who yearns to know the truth. I was raised in a traditional Southern Baptist Church. However, as I grew and matured as a Christian, the traditional evangelical Christian church was no longer able to answer the many questions I had.

Then one day I met a man who claimed to be a "Messianic Jew." I had never heard of such a thing. He told me that he was a born again believer in Master Yeshua (Jesus Christ), but obeyed the teachings of the Torah. This fascinated me I wanted to know more.

After more than three years of studying with this man and his congregation, I found what I had been seeking all of my adult Christian life. I found the truth about what God wants for us and exactly what it was that Messiah brought to us 2000 years ago.

Therefore, after more than 40 years in the Baptist church, I have chosen to distance myself from the evangelical church and study with the Messianic Jews. And, with the exception of His Son, Master Yeshua, blessed be His Name, it was the best thing I could have done.

However, after leaving Colorado and moving to Missouri, I could not find any Messianic congregations in my area. My family and I had nowhere to worship and celebrate the Sabbath. This was very frustrating. When I talked to the local people about being a Messianic Jew, they just looked at me in wonder. They had no idea what I was talking about. To me, this was sad.

Rather than give up, Father God has led me start a semi-Orthodox Messianic congregation in my area. And that is exactly what I am doing with Beit Adonai Yisrael - House of the Lord of Israel.

I live in Humansville, just north of Bolivar. We do not have a set place where we meet. Right now, we meet wherever we can in the Bolivar area. It is my deepest desire to grow enough to have a place where we can celebrate the Sabbath and worship Master Yeshua on a regular basis.

I pray this will be something of comfort to you and your family as you seek answers to the questions you may have. I also welcome any input and help you may wish to offer. Please join us, and bring us your talents as we grow to glorify Father God. Shalom.
